DOUGLAS HAGMANN, HOST: […] Today, I return as host to the Hagmann Report, where truth can’t be silenced. This is much more than a tagline or a pithy adage. It is a mission statement that is to be lived out and performed in full by way of this platform.

It will be exactly two weeks ago tomorrow that Joe died – on Saturday, June 29, 2019. It was just eleven days ago – on Monday, July 1st, 2019, that I sat in this chair to publicly announce his death. With me during that episode was my good friend Russ Dizdar of Shatter the Darkness dot net. There is a reason for that which I’ll address momentarily.

The last two weeks have been among the most difficult two weeks of my life, if not the most difficult. In my time on this earth, I’ve seen more than my share of death – from my time working in EMS to that of an investigator. As many of you know I had a family member brutally murdered 37 years ago – a cold case that was solved 5 years later as I worked as an investigator.  I found the body of my mother, sat at the bedside of my father as he died, and held the hands of countless loved ones as they passed away. But this, this has been much different on so many levels.

I want to thank you for allowing me the time to launch an investigation into the death of my son, Joe Hagmann. During the opening segment of today’s program, I will provide an update to the extent it’s reasonable and prudent, balancing family privacy with the public’s right to know, and balancing the release of information while maintaining the integrity of the police investigation being conducted, and the private investigative efforts concurrently in the background.

My son was 36 years-old at the time of his death. He had been married for seven years to his wife Laura, and they were expecting their first child together – a son – who is expected to arrive in this world in just a few weeks – sometime in August. Although he and his wife were experiencing personal problems, reconciliation was indeed in their future. I know this as I spoke to my son and his wife.

Joe also had a big heart, even to a fault. If someone asked for a favor, he would go out of his way to grant it, at whatever the cost to him.

Joe had a past that he did not try to hide. When he was just 18, he got in trouble stemming from drug and alcohol abuse. He paid for his mistakes and was eventually asked to speak at various functions to help others overcome their addictions. He became friends with people who administered these programs. He never tried to hide his past and often disclosed it as an example to others.

Sadly, and I must mention this, as I am being sued in civil court by a Canadian resident to the tune of $10 million for defamation, a case that I’ve been fighting for the last 4 years, it will be 4 years this November, his record was made an issue, in my opinion, by a passive-aggressive reference in legal filings that his travel to Canada to testify if needed would be problematic because of his record. Again in my opinion, this reference in court filings that are accessible to the public was and is nothing more than attempt to impeach Joe and ultimately, assail the credibility of this show.

That tactic has not worked and will not work because I will not permit it. Truth Can’t be silenced. This is but one example of the countless tactics being used to silence this platform that most people will never see.

As I publicly stated on July 1st,  2019, his death is being attributed to a heroin overdose. It is vital for everyone to understand that the cause of his death will not be known for another few weeks as we are awaiting toxicology reports and other tests to come back. This is not a TV crime drama where everything is solved in 48 minutes of programming, but takes time.

Although tests might indeed prove that to be the cause of his death, I want it to be known that such a cause of death would be inconsistent with his long-term struggles. Also, evidence found at the scene cast additional doubt – facts that I will not disclose as they are integral to the ongoing investigation.

Additionally, the recent influx of certain individuals into his life – people who he befriended and attempted to help – caused more than the raise of an eyebrow during the course of the investigations being conducted.

He opened his door to individuals who were down on their luck, often trusting them too quickly as he always wanted to believe the good in them while too quickly dismissing their evil intent. These are the same people who stole from Joe before, during and after his death while presenting themselves as his friends and in one case, even his fiancé. Such actions are beyond contemptible – they are evil.

Equally troubling is the fact that just hours AFTER Joe’s death, the woman presenting herself as Joe’s fiancé in fact, changed her Facebook status to reflect that she became engaged to Joe in 2018. Incredible, and an incredibly stupid move, but one that provides valuable computer forensic value to advance this investigation.

I learned that the very people Joe attempted to help by taking them in when no one else would, including but not limited to the aforementioned woman, stole Joe’s computer passwords and used his accounts to solicit funds for various purposes. The most contemptible was the most recent – soliciting funds for his funeral arrangements.

For those watching, I have placed on the screen the unredacted text, social media request by a woman who claimed to be Joe’s fiancé. Everything about this request is a lie, except for her name and phone number. I did not write this or post this. She did. She was soliciting money in the wake of Joe’s death.  Not coincidentally, she was the last person to see Joe alive, claims to have been in his company on the day of his death, claims to have found Joe unresponsive, yet did not call 9-1-1. In fact, Joe had been dead for at least four hours based on investigative and forensic findings before any help was summoned.

Let me be perfectly clear. This woman is not, was not ever Joe’s fiancé, as he was married at the time of his death.

Let me also be perfectly clear, it was my wife and I who paid for his funeral expenses, paid in full as illustrated by this receipt from the funeral home. No one else- from our personal account completely unrelated to the business. [Related off-camera talk].

I say this ONLY to offer incontrovertible proof of the financial fraud being attempted in Joe’s name.

It is here that I must sadly reiterate my words from my July 1stannouncement: The Hagmann Report is NOT soliciting ANY money from anyone to cover the costs of Joe’s arrangements – they have been paid. There are NO LEGITIMATE Go Fund Me, PayPal, or other such accounts on behalf of Joe. Any solicitations you might receive are not just sickening and despicable, but a criminal scam designed, in my opinion, to cause doubt about the integrity of our enterprise.

If you have received any such requests, or receive them in the future, I ask that they be sent to me at doug@hagmannreport unless you have already done so.

If you are uncertain about any information, I direct you to our website, Hagmann-Report-Dot-Com. It is only there where you will find the truth – not on anyone else’s social media account, or by emails or text messages.

I posted the following on my personal Facebook account and stand by my words that read- Sadly, I know more about the state of Joe’s body in death from the multitude of records, reports, etc. than any father should know. It is based on these forensic reports that I (and other professional homicide detectives) have concluded that he was murdered (in the broadest of LEGAL definitions of homicide). I do not make this allegation lightly.

Murder and homicide are often used interchangeably but have specific LEGAL definitions and meanings.

When people hear the words murder or homicide, they automatically think of intent to kill, but that’s not the necessarily or always consistent with the legal definition.

Therefore, I have formally requested that a Criminal Negligent Homicide (Title 18, § 2504) investigation be opened against one or more individuals based on this investigator’s findings pertaining to my son’s death.

Pennsylvania Title 18, § 2504 states, in part, that “a person is guilty of involuntary manslaughter (negligent homicide) when as a direct result of the doing of an unlawful act in a reckless or grossly negligent manner, or the doing of a lawful act in a reckless or grossly negligent manner, he causes the death of another person”.

Additionally, I have formally requested an investigation be opened and charges pursued under Pennsylvania Title 18 § 4910 – Tampering with or fabricating physical evidence, in addition to a litany of other criminal charges related to the events of June 29, 2019.

In sum and substance, the average person on the street hearing about Joe’s death from an alleged heroin overdose would automatically think that he was just some junkie who made a fatal and final error in judgement. That is exactly how it was meant to look and meant to be handled by law enforcement.

Closer scrutiny of factors found at the scene and information developed from ongoing investigations suggests aggravating circumstances that belie this simple scenario. Hence, my request to our local police, district attorney and the assembly of my own private team of investigators.

There are so many things I’ve uncovered in the last two weeks that I simply cannot make public as doing so would jeopardize the investigations being conducted.

This week – I don’t know what day it was – I appeared on The Keith Hanson Show to talk about my efforts to uncover the truth about Joe’s death. I told him that I called in every favor I could with people I know from every police and intelligence agency I could think of – in two countries. He stopped me in my tracks by asking me one question – something I intend to address in the days ahead. What about people in similar situations who don’t have the contacts and resources I have? What can or should they do?

That question has weighed heavily on my heart since it was asked, for I am more fortunate than others. It is my intent to help those who will find themselves in a similar position but without the resources or public exposure. For those who are denied justice.

I have learned that having the desire for justice is not enough. Justice can be achieved if sought with a righteous heart, a strong faith in Almighty God, and the courage and conviction to stop at nothing, despite the seeming insurmountable odds. […]
