Special Report: Behind the Movie “The Irishman”

If you watch Netflix, you know that the movie The Irishman debuted there on Wednesday, November 27, 2019 with much fanfare. The crime drama is expected to draw millions of viewers over this Thanksgiving break.

The man behind The Irishman, or more specifically, the man behind the book upon which the movie is based is Charles Brandt, identified as the film’s writer in the credits. The Hagmann Report interviewed Charles Brandt about his book, I Heard You Paint Houses and the movie that was about to begin production at the time of this 2017 interview.

Reading some of the preliminary comments on our YouTube channel and some emails I’ve received, I think people need a little understanding WHY I chose to post this interview from 2017. First, it has NOTHING to do with the actors. Nothing. The release of this movie has a lot of people talking about the Hoffa case and the criminals, and the movie is based on the book by Charles Brandt, the person being interviewed. He provides the backstory behind the facts of the unsolved case in this interview.

Secondly, it is 5 months today that Joe died. I have publicly stated that in my view and based on the broadest legal definition of the word, I believe it is much more accurate to say that he was a homicide victim. The investigation conducted by a team of professional, heavily credentialed detectives I was able to assemble including a former FBI agent, a private forensic medical examiner, forensic specialists and others concur.

So, what does one issue have to do with the other? There is a very specific statement made to Mr. Brandt which he disclosed in this interview. Keep in mind that Mr. Brandt was a HOMICIDE detective. Again, it’s not about the actors or even the movie. Think bigger.  -Doug Hagmann

NEW! NOW OPEN! The Hagmann Report Store. Our new coffee blends are now finally available!  After three months of working one-on-one with the best roster in the country, in our opinion, we’ve developed a rich tasting coffee with an added kick of caffeine in our Detective’s Choice multi-bean blend. Available in K-cups, whole bean or ground, this coffee is a favorite among local law enforcement.

Better still, proceeds from the sale of this coffee go to the “hands-on” boots-on-the-ground investigators who are engaged in the investigation of human trafficking, especially child sex-trafficking.

Enjoy a cup of kick-butt yet smooth coffee in the morning – before that important interrogation or long stake out.  Order yours today. Always fresh – roasted in small batches – we average about four-days from the roaster to your cup. We do things right.
